Hi again. Hope all is well with you and yours. My last post was about Things to do to Live a Healthier Lifestyle. I was going to do a post about creating a schedule. Instead I decided to write a post about Healthy Living Habits that will help you to have a daily routine that will enable you and yours to live happier lives.

In today’s world people are busy balancing work, home and entertainment activities. Here are a few Healthy Living Habits I do to live a healthy lifestyle. I hope you give some a try so you can develop Healthy Living Habits for you and your family. .

Wake Up Early

We all like to sleep in. I used to be guilty of that. It was just a waste of time. Getting an early start for your day I have found gives you a little more time to do what you want to get done today. These days I am up and around the house around 5am each morning.

Be Active

Our body was designed to move, but sadly many of us today are sitting while we travel, when we are at work or when we are relaxing. We sit way too much so it’s important that we make time for some type of exercise. The benefits to your health from exercise are tremendous. So get going and go for a walk, ride a bike, take your cat or dog for a walk. Schedule some time each day to move and you’ll be glad you did. I start my day with a 40-45 min walk.

A Glass of Water to start your day?

Drinking a glass of water is a great way to start your day. Add lemon juice to the water if you like. Not only is it refreshing but it can help to hydrate the body.

Eat Breakfast

Breakfast I feel is the most important meal of the day. What you eat for breakfast is very important for our health and weight management. Eating breakfast helps to reduce daytime cravings as well as helping with concentration. My husband works construction and has always said a good breakfast helps with productivity at work. Breakfast is a must for all of us!

Get Outside

Going outside is one of the easiest ways to improve your overall health. While outside you breathe in fresh air. As well you get exposure to the sun so your body produces vitamin D, which has been shown to have many essential functions in the body.

Exercise Outside

Sit Down When Eating

When it’s time to eat, sit down. I found myself constantly munching everywhere around the house, so I decided to implement this guideline of eating while sitting down. Eating while sitting down helps to support digestion. The position of sitting is the optimal position for the digestive system. It has been shown that people chew their food better while sitting down.

Take Time to Cook

Sick and tired of eating greasy takeout foods every night. Want to begin to control the amount and type of food you eat. Learn how to cook. Many who have learned how to cook have found an appreciation for it and  have found it very satisfying.

Eat Fruit an Vegetables

My Mother was always after us kids to eat our vegetables. Fruit and Vegetables are rich in vitamins, minerals and fibre. Eating more fruit and vegetables in your diet automatically there will be less room for other types of bad foods.

Clean the Kitchen before you retire for the day

My husband and I tidy up the kitchen before we go to bed. It’s just something we have done for years. Waking up in the morning to a clean kitchen has allowed us to start our day without having to start it by cleaning up yesterday’s mess.

Put Your Phone Away!

In today’s world we are all busy doing what we do. We have a variety of electronic devices to assist us day to day (cell phones, tablets, computers). A lot of our time is wasted checking these devices during the day. A recent survey concluded that the average person spends over 2 hours a day checking these devices. I have found it less stressful to put these electronic devices away a few hours before bedtime to give our brains a rest.

Read Something

Reading a good book or an article I might be interested in is a great way to wind down after a busy day. Reading helps you to stay sharp, reduces stress and helps with a good night’s sleep.

Go to Bed Early

A good night’s sleep is imperative for a healthy lifestyle. It is recommended that the average person should get 8 hours sleep each night. It’s very important to get enough sleep. Sleep is when our bodies are able to relax, unwind and recover from the day’s activities.

Last Thoughts

Well there you have it. Some of the things I do routinely to live a healthy Lifestyle. If you are truly thinking about making changes you don’t have to do all of them at once. Pick one or two healthy daily habits and  focus on those. It will take time and effort to change your present habits. It’s never too late to start to develop healthier life habits. So what are you waiting for?
